Public & Private Sector Relief Funds of BHM
There are two types of Sickness Funds available for members of FÍN. Public Sector Relief Fund is only available for members of the Public labour market. Employers in the Private sector can apply for the Sickness/Private Sector Relief Fund.
The purpose of the funds is to give our members financial support due to unpaid absence from work because of sickness/illness, accidents and supporting rehabilitation and prevention's of various kinds.
Grants of BHM
Patient´s daily expenses, Physical exercise subsidy, Physical and psychological treatment, Spectacles grant, Maternity/paternity grant, Cancer screening, Risk assessment from the Icelandic Heart Association, Laser procedures, Hearing aids, Dental repairs, In-vitro fertilization treatment, Hearing aid grant, Death benefits, Work-related accidents, or unexpected termination, Grants for travel expenses incurred due to adoption of children.

Public Sector Relief Fund is only available for members of the Public labour market. Employers in the Private sector can apply for the Sickness/Private Sector Relief Fund. The right to allocations from the funds is contingent on prior payment into the fund for a period totaling 6 months, thereof 3 consecutive months before the occurrence of the event leading to an application for fund allocations.

give financial assistance to unpaid absence due to sickness/illness and
accidents, supports rehabilitation and prevention of various kinds.
The rights for allocation
The right to allocations from the funds is contingent on prior payment into the fund for a period totaling 6 months, thereof 3 consecutive months before the occurrence of the event leading to an application for fund allocations. If a member's contributions are less than 3,000 ISK a month, they are entitled to half the allocations. The employer should pay into the fund on their employees' behalf. Self-employed members can pay directly into the BHM Sickness Fund / Private Sector Relief Fund.
